Mounted on the Lightning STR’s lightweight aluminum chassis is a Vertex VX-16 nitro engine with lightweight heat sink, aluminum fin cooled exhaust manifold, and tuned pipe.

A shaft driven 4WD drivetrain, coupled with a high performance 2-speed transmission, allows crazy 1st gear acceleration, while still providing blistering 2nd gear top speeds. Easily adjust the shift point,with the turn of a screw. Composite disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power and a 2.4GHz radio system ensure control.

Aluminum capped oil filled shocks and adjustable independent suspension, similar to that found on race cars, provide tunable dampening that realistic onroad race tires need to achieve race winning traction.
